Are they a contractor licensed in the state you are living in to perform things like moving plumbing or electrical? Even demolition on a project usually can’t start without a permit. Are they insured? Do they use sub-contractors?
Picking your contractor is one of the most critical aspects of any remodel or build. A handyman usually doesn’t have the credentials to do things needed to produce a full-scale remodel.
