Take Pride in Your Garage
Have you ever thought “I’m embarrassed to open my garage because it’s so messy”? Considering the average garage door opens and closes nearly 1,500 times every year, that’s a lot of potential embarrassment to go through if you consider your garage to be a disaster zone.
That’s why the garage’s interior should be a big part of anyone’s plans to boost their curb appeal and home value. After all, clean, beautiful garage makes a strong statement to the neighbors, passersby, and visitors about the high standards you have for your home’s appearance.
When we think of curb appeal, it’s your property and exterior home features that right away come to mind. There are a lot of things around the house that need your attention and time to keep looking great. If you look beyond the obvious like the front door, windows, lighting, and landscaping, you’d realize your garage’s interior shouldn’t be overlooked either if you want to boost your curb appeal and home value.
52% of Homeowners Want an Envy-Worthy Garage
A recent study found that 52% of homeowners want their garage to be envied by their neighbors. Despite this high number, a lot of homeowners still neglect the garage when it comes to making home improvement upgrades. It seems that garage upgrades fall into that “I’ll get it done someday” category.
Clearing Out the Clutter
The garage is one of the most cluttered and disorganized spaces in the home. To make any garage really envy-worthy, the first thing to do is to start eliminating some of that unnecessary clutter. That doesn’t mean you should “remove” the clutter by tucking it away on overheard shelves or in the attic, but to completely remove it to really get that space you need without worrying about overflow.
Appealing to a Potential Buyer
Upgrading the garage doors aren’t the only garage upgrade that pay off when it’s time to sell your home. Those interior garage upgrades will make your house so much more enticing to prospective buyers. After all, who wouldn’t be impressed walking into a room that’s typically disorganized and dull and instead finding a clutter-free, trendy space with an appealing, modern look?
A nice garage interior may even be the home feature that wins over a buyer who otherwise wasn’t even aware that a garage could be kept so clean and have such a high-end appearance. A majority of buyers consider the garage when they make their decision.
